Originally from Duck Lake in Saskatchewan (Metis), Shirly Hall is an adopted member of the Bella Bella Eagle Clan. She is married to artist Robert Hall whose work is also in the University of Victoria's Art Collections. Shirly Hall attended the Kitanmax School of Northwest Coast Art in 1971 learning to design and create in a Northwest Coast style.

Four of her prints are present in UVAC's collections: Belle Bella Crest; Deer; The Feast; Waglisla B.C.; and Yaxi of Geldith.
