Artwork Detail - V6

Watercolour Painting
after 1964
watercolour on paper
paper size: 37 cm x 28 cm
An Indigenous style mask painted with watercolours. The painting uses different shades of brown and green, with peach facial highlighting. The mouth is wide and the lips are pursed together, the nose is straight and wide, and the eyes are shaped like diamonds. The eyebrows are furrowed, the ends being slightly obscured by what would be the "hair" of the mask. This "hair" looks similar to tree branches and was painted with a dark brown and some dark green. There are brown lines creating patterns on the otherwise peach coloured base of the face. The portions of the painting that are not occupied by the mask are done in green.
