The painting is done in varying shades of grey and brown, with facial features highlighted by a pale yellow and rusty red colour. There are some white patches throughout the painting, which were done intentionally by the artist. The face is ovular and takes up most of the page. The corners not occupied by the mask are painted grey and black.
