Carved wood mask with human-like features. The mouth is posed so that the lips form an “o” shape and the eyes are almost closed. Black hair extends from around the top of the mask. There are holes in sides of the mask for green suede cords, likely used to tie the mask on. The mask has a sage green stain applied throughout which allows the wood grain shows through. Red paint rims the figure’s eyes, exterior of the nostrils and lips and their eyebrows are executed in black paint. More red and black paint is used to create formline designs on the figure’s forehead and cheeks. The design on the forehead depicts a bird’s face in profile.
