Description
Carved model of a canoe with four cross beams likely representing thwarts. The cross beams and the upper lip of the canoe (where the gunnels would be) are painted a muted red. What is likely the front/prow of the boat has a bird head, likely an eagle, painted on it, followed by another creature, likely a fish. There is another face painted at the tail/stern of the boat. The boat wrests flat on the table, giving the effect that you're only seeing the parts of the vessel that are above water. The painted designs are executed using a formline style in black, white, and the same muted red as the cross beams. The rest of the canoe is not painted, so as to reveal the natural colour of the wood.
