Carving
2001
painted red cedar
overall: 41.00 cm x 15.50 cm
This carving shows a kingfisher as if it was diving. The tallest points are the tips of its tail and wing feathers. The head of the kingfisher rests on the base. Base is shaped like an upside-down bowl and it has a killer whale relief carving. The whale is placed so that it seems like the king fisher is capturing the whale with its beak. Formline design elements are applied in red and black paint. The natural colour of the wood is visible in many parts.
