Artist Statement
Curatorial Description
This $200 gold coin was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1997 as part of its Native Cultures and Traditions series. It is based on a design by Robert Davidson, originally intended for a pendant, called Raven Bringing the Light to the World. It is one of only 25,000 coins produced with this design. This coin builds on the Legacy’s current holding of Pacific Northwest Coast art, including 22 other artworks created by Davidson.
