The painting depicts Dick Morris, who is a publisher and printer from Victoria. His family established Morris Printing Services, which was the first book publisher in the province after the Second World War. Legacy Art Galleries has an extensive collection of works by Myfanwy Pavelic, including another portrait of Dick Morris, this one a drawing. Dick Morris was connected to the University of Victoria and printed many of the Maltwood monographs. He also printed the Canadian literary publication "The Malahat Review" for many years.
