David has been very instrumental in bringing back the qilaut (drum) both in performance and creation. Here, David is performing on Parliament Hill during World Suicide Prevention Day. David is an avid teacher and he gives freely of his time and knowledge about the qilaut. In this performance he is accompanied by his grandchildren who, like their ataatatsiaq (grandfather), are promoting and keeping alive cultural traditions. In doing so they play a key role in ensuring culture is passed on.
