Painting
1940s
oil on board
frame: 18 cm x 21 cm x 1.4 cm; image size: 7 cm x 10.2 cm
The forground of the painting features the lower trunk of a birch tree. At the tree's base are some rocks and some more trees of a different variety. They are thin, with dark trunks and green leaves. Behind the trees is a house with two windows. It is executed in beige and dark grey with a white roof. The house appears to be situated in a grassy field with forest, depicted with large soft strokes of green bushes, in the upper left quadrant of the painting. There is some blue sky visible above the forest treeline and between the branches of the trees near the house.
