Description
Two figures, arhats (Sanskrit for "one who is worthy") in exaggerated draped clothing and have elongated faces. One has black facial hair and a red outer robe. The other has grey hair and a green outer robe, and the figures palms are touching each other. Arhats are humans, rather than gods or dieties, who have achieved spiritual enlightenment.
This is a highly skilled reproduction of an original painting by Chen Hongshu (China) 1598-1652.

Curatorial Description
The figures that Chen Hongshou painted were recognizable for their
elongated faces and exaggerated, draped clothing, as seen in this
reproduction. The two figures in this painting are arhats, Sanskrit for “one
who is worthy”. Arhats are humans, rather than gods or deities, who
have achieved spiritual enlightenment.
