The dynamic sculptural forms of the stones from British Columbia;s Guld Islands have a profound, multilayered meaning for me. The essence of these forms appeal to my mind as well as to my heart. The mixed media works on paper and canvas that are the result of my interest in those stones, focus on an intimate examination of their organic, bone-like forms that raise up questions about past history of our planet.

Since stones began to speak to me, I discovered more and more about their symbolic significance. According to Carl Jung, stone is one of the most pervasive symbols of the inner soul. it is one of the four elements in Chinese philosophy and is revered and respected in the beautiful Zen Gardens of Japan. The soft, rounded sdhapes of these stones are feminine, but the power they convey is masculine. This further integration exudes peace and wholeness.
