This painting depicts the shoreline at Mill Bay during autumn. A triangular composition of rocks form the right half of the foreground. Above the rocks evergreen trees lean on a diagonal over the ocean. Blue mountains and a gray sky form the background.
Apart from the green used to render the evergreen trees, this painting's palette is dominated by the complimentary colours blue and orange. Cream-coloured brushstokes are used to highlight each of the natural forms creating unity and balance in this work.
